Men's pennants 2026

Our 2026 Men's Pennants campaign has officially concluded (20 Apr 2026)

Thank you all for your ongoing support and participation. Well done to all who played and those involved behind the scenes. Much appreciated thankless task undertaken by volunteers.

Yesterday our IC1 Men's Pennants Team played their semi final, narrowly going down to Titirangi at Maramarua on the 18th hole.

Up to that point awaiting for the final pair to play, the overall match was locked at 3.5 wins each. Both players found the fairway, our player's approach shot was long left just off the green and his opponent was short right of the green. They both chipped within 3 feet for short par putts to initiate a playoff match. Unfortunately we missed our putt however a well fought fight by all on the day, a very intense conclusion to the end of the men's season.

We live to fight another day and the team can hold their heads high because we were always the team to beat having been the final over the last 5 years winning four of them.

I would like to express my thanks to all involved in Pennants this year. From the management of each team and the logistics involved to get teams on the course as well as the players who gave up their Sunday to represent.

As you know we had men's teams competing in Presidents (playing off the stick) and two interclub handicap teams who have all competed proudly amongst the best of the best in Auckland for their respective divisions. Our Women's Weekend team's competition is still going on.

I hope all involved this year enjoyed the experience whether you are a seasoned veteran campaigner or rookie pioneer, your participation has had our club strongly represented. Thanks again and well done putting yourself out there, testing your skills and ability in a very competitive format.

For anyone new out there that may be interested for next year, speak with those involved and brush up on your game. It does take commitment and there is a player eligibility / selection process to make the grade so if you think you got what it takes, we would love to hear from you.

Happy golfing,

Michael Annandale
